Here I will show how I do when I change a wheel bearing on a Skoda I have in my shop today.

So I start to pull off the wheel and next step is to loosen the lower ball joint and the driveshaft nut.

The most shop take off the complete steering knuckle and do the work in a regular press.

But as a tool junkie like me don't do it that way because a good investment saving time and will get a better profit to the owner.

So I start to press out the driveshaft.

And loosing the outer tie rod.

Then it's time to pull out the wheel bearing.

This tool at the steering knuckle will not harm the dust cover behind the brake disc.

So now it's out.

This car has what we call a compact bearing that is complete with the hub and here we need a tool that press at the outer ring at the bearing.

Some shops do it wrong and press directly at the hub and then all the force goes to the inner ring and the bearing will broke after 6 months or so.

The inside of the bearing have a magnet for the ABS sensor that is reading impulses when the wheel is turning. This is very easy to destroy when the bearing will be in place.

Some guys take it off but it's easy to destroy it and then you have to replace it.

So I have a special plate to put at the backside.

Now the sensor is safe.

And now I can press the bearing in place.

Nice and easy and you can see at the backside of the tool it fits another car too.

There we are in place.

Everything looking good.

So you can do it in different ways, remember the guy with the Elantra :-)))). This is how I do.

It takes 20 minutes and I get paid for 1,5 hour, so a few more of those and my next watch is closer. :-)))
